What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most commonly used forms of natural and traditional medicine in the world.

Put simply, acupuncture is the insertion of fine, sterile needles at specific points to regulate the body´s energy flow and to treat a wide variety of ailments.

How it works.

Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into specific spots to stimulate the body to heal itself. Traditional explanations of acupuncture involve its effect on improving the flow of qi (‘vital air/energy’ and referred to as ki by the Japanese) and on balancing Yin and Yang, a paradigm of health and disease that maps very closely to the Western concept of homeostasis. By stimulating specific points on the body with heat, pressure, or very fine needles, acupuncture practitioners are able to restore healthy function, thus resolving symptoms and reversing disease.

  • Clinical trials report the use of acupuncture relieves nausea and vomiting from anticancer therapies. Acupuncture can also relieve symptoms such as fatigue, dry mouth and hot flashes.

  • Acupuncture has a natural diuretic effect and because of this detoxes the body through the urinary tract. This is why acupuncture is widely used for drug detox programs. Group detox sessions coming soon.
